Perry County, Tennessee Chancery Court
According to the Tennessee State Library and Archives, the Chancery Court heard cases of Equity. These were disputes in which the court had to decide what would be fair to all parties. This included estate disputes; land and slave ownership disputes; business partnership dissolutions; division of property in divorces; incompetency rebuttals; claims against public officials.
These records are available on microfilm at the Tennessee State Library and Archives starting in 1854.
If you have any transcribed records from the Chancery Court that you would like to share, please contact Jan Monnin, your Perry County TnGenWeb coordinator.
