Mexican War  (1846-1848)

 

 

  • The Tennessee State Library and Archives (TSLA) holds records pertaining to this war.  They have:

  •     1)  a card file with a list of Tennesseans who fought in the war.

  •     2)  a published list of the Mexican War pensioners.

  •  For both 1) and 2) above, inquiries and copies can be ordered directly from them.  For ordering instructions, please refer to their web page:  ordering military records by mail.

 

  • The TSLA also has microfilm records available to view through interlibrary loan.  These records are:

  •     3)  Index to Compiled Service Records of Volunteer Soldiers Who Served During the Mexican War. 41 reels. National Archives M616. Index is arranged alphabetically by soldier's surname. Also includes company, unit, and rank.

  •      4) Compiled Service Records of Volunteer Soldiers Who Served During the Mexican War in Organizations from the State of Tennessee. 15 reels. National Archives M638. Generally service records cover date and place mustered in and enrolled, muster roll details, and muster out date. Organized by unit and company then arranged alphabetically by soldier's surname.
