Perry County, Tennessee

War of 1812  (1812-1815)

Perry County was created in 1819, therefore, it did not have any designated units during the War of 1812.  However, we do have soldiers who fought this war, and who later came to live in Perry County.  The lists and links below reflect this group of soldiers or widows.

There are several records that can be checked, to see if your ancestor fought in the War of 1812.

  • The Tennessee State Library and Archives (TSLA)  has a book that lists each Tennessee soldier's name, rank, regimental commander, company commander, and unit.   If you e-mail TSLA with the name of the individual, they will check to see if there is a listing in the index.

  • The TSLA also has a published book that lists the pensioner's name and very brief personal information.  If you e-mail TSLA, they will check the book's index for you.

  • For copies of original service records, muster rolls, and pension records of War of 1812 soldiers, contact the National Archives and Records Administration.

If you have any record for a soldier who fought in the War of 1812 and lived in Perry County Tennessee,  please contact Jan Monnin , your Perry County TnGenWeb coordinator.
