In 1783 my 4th ggrandfather Southey NELSON was settled in WashingtonCounty. His last pay stub from the Revolutionary War (found in theNorth Carolina State Archives) has him a resident of Washington and Sullivan Counties. He purchased land from a Henry Shields on theNolachuckey(sp?) I have no idea of his wifes name. I know that hischildren were Henry, John, William Riley, Polly, David, Elijah andAarva. WORK

My ancestor Jacob WORK first settled in Sullivan Co. in 1794, thenwith brother Joseph WORK in Roane about 1800. Joseph had a number ofsons and daughters, Jacob WORK had Flemming WORK and daughters. Mostly they lived in Roane from 1800 to 1860's (WORK family). Theexception is Jacob WORK was the Coroner for McMinn County at it'sformation. The only other known presence in McMinn is as a Jurorabout 1822. Does anyone know anything about Jacob WORK and hisdescendents?

WORK, CROCKETT

My ancestor Jacob WORK and brother/?/father Robert WORK were inSullivan County as early as 1794. Robert died about 1804 and hisheirs, Jacob (by then in Roane Co.) and Joseph acquired land inSullivan. Jacob is thought to have married a "Miss" Crockett,thought to be daughter of Andrew Crockett, a Justice of the Peace inSullivan in 1798-1817. Andrew CROCKETT officiated the marriageJacob's son Flemming WORK (Andrew's grandson?) in Sullivan about1817. Joseph's oldest son William WORK was in Sullivan as late as1850 with a wife and son and two daughters. I know nothing aboutMiss Crockett or her ?father Andrew, nor do I know what ever happenedto William and his wife after 1850. Any information on CROCKETT andWORK's in Sullivan? I am researching my paternal line and have traced it back to my 5thgreat-grandparents, Thomas and Jane SADDLER, born approx 1769 in NC.They came to the TN territory about 1789-1790 as part of militarytransport to Davidson Co. I am researching the ALEXANDER (ELICK) WILSON and ELIZABETH MILLERfamilies. Alexander Wilson and Elizabeth Miller were married in KnoxCo. TN. Oct. 19,1865 acording to the Knox Co. marriager records. Alexander and Elizabeth Wilson's names appear in the Tenn. StateArchives Private Act of 1833 granting Cherokee Tn. citizenship, donot know if this is my ggrandfather and ggandmother or not. WRATHER

THOMPSON

According to applications made in Oklahoma in 1891 by theirdescendants, John THOMPSON married Arrniswakie, a Cherokee, in Tennessee before 1790. They eventually moved to Georgia. Their descendants are John Jr, Stephen, Sarah and Millie. Millie married John Young and the family moved to Arkansas. Their children moved into Oklahoma. I'm very interested in finding more information onthis family, although I do have considerable on their descendants andwould be happy to share.

TINKER

Searching for Abraham TINKER, b abt 1780. On the county and federal census records, he is listed as being born in NC and in TN. I have had no luck with pinning this down. I am begining to wonder if he was b in the State of Franklin. My next problem is where do I search: it is my understanding that the records for the State of Franklin can be found in eastern TN and in western NC. Here is what I know about him: Abraham TINKER, b abt 1780. Hemarried Polly HOBDAY, b 1774 in Greasy Cove, Washington, TN. Their children were all born in Cocke Co, TN between 1800-1820. Searching for information on Isaac Wilson and his wife Elizabeth. Isaac's family lived in Campbell Co., and possibly in Grainger Co. Isaac left Tennessee in about 1817 and became one of the earliest settlers of Fishing River Township in Ray Co., Missouri. He diedthere in 1827, leaving his wife and five young children: Jeremiah H.(1817-1872) who married Elizabeth Wilhite in 1836 in Ray Co., MO. William Linville Wilson (1822-1901) who married Mary Wilhite. JohnC. (1824-1888). Israel and Susannah both about which nothing isknown. The first three sons left Missouri by 1850 to settle in Collin Co., Texas. I have been told that Isaac Wilson was the son of William Wilson of Campbell Co., TN by his second wife, Susannah. Isaac's brothers may have been Eli, Levi and Solomon who also came toRay Co., Missouri before 1840. Levi's son, James W. C. Wilson, whowas born February 16, 1808 in Campbell Co!. accompanied them to Ray Co. Levi and Solomon were born in NC. Can anyone identify this Wilson family?

Searching for info on John Wilhite (probably born between 1775 and 1790). He married Mary. Their children are believed to be Martha (1808-1884) who married Peter Stout Benton in 1829 in Jefferson Co.,TN. McKinsey J. (1814-1848). William (1816-1848) who died in the Mexican War. Elizabeth (1818-1853) who married Jeremiah H. Wilson inRay Co., MO in 1836. Mary (born 1820 in Greene Co., TN) who married William Linville Wilson. Malinda (1823-1904) who married Larkin Adamson in 1849 in Andrew Co., MO. Julia Ann (1827-1910) who never married. James J. (1829 - ?). The Wilhite family left Jefferson Co., TN in about 1829, along with the Peter Stout Benton and Adamson families, for Morgan Co., IL where they are listed in the 1830census. They then went to Missouri (Ray, Clay, Andrew or Buchanan Counties). All the children eventually left for Collin Co., TX with the exception of Martha Wilhite who we!nt to Van Zandt Co., TX.
