In 1783 my 4th
ggrandfather Southey NELSON was settled in WashingtonCounty. His last
pay stub from the Revolutionary War (found in theNorth Carolina State
Archives) has him a resident of Washington and Sullivan Counties. He
purchased land from a Henry Shields on theNolachuckey(sp?) I have no
idea of his wifes name. I know that hischildren were Henry, John,
William Riley, Polly, David, Elijah andAarva. He enlisted to fight in
Charleston, S.C..Am at a loss as tohis parent's names...wife's name

My ancestor Jacob WORK
first settled in Sullivan Co. in 1794, thenwith brother Joseph WORK
in Roane about 1800. Joseph had a number ofsons and daughters, Jacob
WORK had Flemming WORK and daughters. Mostly they lived in Roane from
1800 to 1860's (WORK family). Theexception is Jacob WORK was the
Coroner for McMinn County at it'sformation. The only other known
presence in McMinn is as a Jurorabout 1822. Does anyone know

My ancestor Jacob WORK and brother/?/father
Robert WORK were inSullivan County as early as 1794. Robert died
about 1804 and hisheirs, Jacob (by then in Roane Co.) and Joseph
acquired land inSullivan. Jacob is thought to have married a "Miss"
Crockett,thought to be daughter of Andrew Crockett, a Justice of the
Peace inSullivan in 1798-1817. Andrew CROCKETT officiated the
marriageJacob's son Flemming WORK (Andrew's grandson?) in Sullivan
about1817. Joseph's oldest son William WORK was in Sullivan as late
as1850 with a wife and son and two daughters. I know nothing
aboutMiss Crockett or her ?father Andrew, nor do I know what ever
happenedto William and his wife after 1850. Any information on

According to applications made in Oklahoma in 1891 by theirdescendants,
John THOMPSON married Arrniswakie, a Cherokee, in Tennessee before
1790.
They eventually moved to Georgia. Their descendants are John Jr,
Stephen,
Sarah and Millie. Millie married John Young and the family moved to
Arkansas. Their children moved into Oklahoma. I'm very interested in

census records, he is listed as being born in NC and in TN. I have had

luck with pinning this down. I am begining to wonder if he was b in

Isaac's
family lived in Campbell Co., and possibly in Grainger Co. Isaac left
Tennessee in about 1817 and became one of the earliest settlers of
Fishing
River Township in Ray Co., Missouri. He diedthere in 1827, leaving his
wife
and five young children: Jeremiah H.(1817-1872) who married Elizabeth
Wilhite in 1836 in Ray Co., MO. William Linville Wilson (1822-1901) who
married Mary Wilhite. JohnC. (1824-1888). Israel and Susannah both
about
which nothing isknown. The first three sons left Missouri by 1850 to
settle
in Collin Co., Texas. I have been told that Isaac Wilson was the son

William Wilson of Campbell Co., TN by his second wife, Susannah.
Isaac's
