TISHOMINGO, BARNETT
My name is Charles Garrett, of Iuka, ms. My g grandmother was adirect decendant of chief Tishomingo, according to passed down verbalhistory, their was a battle in what is now Tishomingo st park, intishomingo ms. According to my the story passed down from my ggrandmother to my mother, it was a battle between the Chocktaw, andChickasaw, I have read differant, but the story goes that Iuka wasthe Choctaw chief. It goes, as Tishomingo was wounded, he hid himselfin a cave, and was found by chief Iuka's daughter, who nursed himback to health, and as a result the two where married, bringing unityto the two tribes. As I said this is from an oral account of my ggrandmother , who's parants where killed in a wagon accedent when shewas young, from then she was adopted by whites, so I am wrightingthis to find out if anyone might have a simular record of this or acontradictory one. If anyone knows anything about this please reply. Thanks
