RIGGS
Seeking information on the RIGGS family of East Tennessee. I amparticularly interested in any information on Samuel RIGGS[1760--died between 1845 and 1850] and Jesse RIGGS who is listed inthe 1850 Census of Hawkins Co, TN at age 55 with a William RIGGS, age26; Sarah RIGGS, age 38; and an Adeline RIGGS, age 12. There wasalso a John RIGGS who was a Justice of the Peace in Hawkins Co, TN in1845 who we feel is son of Samuel RIGGS.According to a WPA Record (#465-44-3-115) in July 1938: RIGGSGraveyard: Located on the farm of Hardee DOUGHERTY, half a milenorth of Russellville on the Three Springs Road. It is supposed thatJesse RIGGS is buried here beside his wife. Samuel RIGGS, the fatherof Jesse is buried in an unmarked grave on an adjacent farm...... The two gravestones in the RIGGS Cemetery are: Mary RIGGS, Consortof Jesse RIGGS, Born 1797, Died Sept. 1845 and Mary TAYLOR, Daughterof Jesse and Mary RIGGS, Born 1821, Died 1845.

Looking for information on Nancy BROWN b. about 1807, TN, marriedJoseph BURNETT, b. 1802. Married 1828, moved into Indiana until 1839,moved on to Crawford Co Missouri. Nancy is believed to be fullCherokee, possible father, John, however no hard evidence iscurrently available. Nancy and Joseph are both buried in Crawford CoMo.
