FerebyBENTON married William VAUGHAN in Cherokee Nation, she was said tohave been daughter of a James or Jesse BENTON and a ----- LOONEY. Hermother, the LOONEY, was said to have been Cherokee. Possibly adescendant of Robert LOONEY. A Looney Tol-lem-Tees-Key, a Cherokee,was Fereby's cousin, probably emmigrated to AR before Trail of Tears. Fereby was born in North Carolina and died in 1850 in MadisonCounty, Arkansas. Some of her descendants tried and failed to gainCherokee Citizenship in the 1890s. Some indicatation that Fereby's father or Grandfather was named JohnLooney, possibly related to the chief of the same name. Anyoneresearching these lines, please contact me.
