June 15, 1873, volume three, number six, page 122:
CROOK — At Mifflin, Tenn., Brother Jerry J. Crook, aged 26 years. Deceased was a worthy brother. His funeral was conducted by Union Lodge No. 140, at Mifflin, with usual masonic ceremonies, on the 25th ult. The lodge passed usual resolutions of sorrow and regret.
May 15, 1874, volume four, number four, page 64:
BRAY — Bro. E. G. Bray, of Union Lodge No. 140, at Mifflin, Tenn., departed this life at his new home in Trenton, Tenn., March 31, 1874. He was kindly cared for by the members of Trenton Lodge No. 86, and was buried with Masonic honors by Constantine Lodge No. 64, at Lexington. His own Lodge passed resolutions of sympathy and regret at their brother's death, an tendered thanks to Lodges Nos. 64 and 86 for their kindness and attention.

To the W M., Wardens and Brethren of Friendship Lodge No. 229, F. and A. Masons:
The Committee upon whom has fallen the sorrowful duty of expressing the feelings of this Lodge upon the death of our much beloved brother, Josiah Franklin, who departed this life on the ____ day of ______ last, would report for adoption the following resolutions, viz:
Resolved, That while we recognize with deep humility the decree or an infinitely allwise Providence, we deeply deplore our loss.
Resolved, That we sympathize deeply with his family and friends in their affliction.
Resolved, That these resolutions be placed upon the records of the Lodge, a copy, under Lodge seal, be furnished the bereaved family, a copy be furnished the MASONIC JEWEL for publication, and that we wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days.
