(I suspect John C. and Jemima had Rachel and Dorcas living with them on their property until their deaths. They sold out and moved when the last of Robert's children at home died. Jemima would have been 76 years old then. That was the first time in her life to be without the responsibility of her parents and/or siblings.
In 1820 there is a female in Jemima's houehold. Was there a daughter?
Squire HAWKINS and wife Martha are ordered to appear in court, came not. Ordered Jemima COCHRAN, Robert C. CROCKETT, David G. CROCKETT, Dovey F. COCHRAN and Mary DAVIS to appear at present term. All debts have been paid. Rachel's slaves ordered sold. Roll 13, Chancery Court Min., Vol. 9, p. 175.

(NOTE: William M. MILLICAN was appointed administrator of the estate of Rachel CROCKETT, a maiden aunt of Violet, who died 1858 in Gi. Co., TN. )July the 26 1852
Dear Nephew, I rec'd your letter and would have wrote before this time but the great press of business has prevented until now. I am carrying on a cabinet shop and a little farm. I attend the subordinate Temple of Honor twice a month, the society degree once a month & the lodg once a month and go every Sunday, so you see I am not idle. My health is very good and I am able to doo as much work as most of men and rest some too. I have an excellent crop of corn, my cotton is now about seven feet high and going on. Our Temple is in a very flurishing condition, has much good & still doing good. In the subordinate temple I wear the red regala & blue apron. Your aunt is a member of the social degree and is very much pleased with it. There is a very great excitement now about a railroad . It will pass near our house and bring New orleans in nine or ten hours of us. When that road is complete a journey to old Maury county wil be a mere trifle. I would go and visit my old friends in tennesee if I had any one to stay here and keep home for us but when one of us leave home there is but one left and that is lonesome and it would not quite do for us to leave our little all and travel two thousand miles to see your friends for a few days and return. By staying at home and attending to our business we can live very well and enjoy life better than ever we did at any period before. We have a plenty of friends all round us. Your Aunt is in very fine health, very fat, cheerful and contented. Little Emily is well and going to school.
We (have) very fine crops, everything very plenty we eat but very little meat in the south. Milk, butter, coffee, potatoes and the like make up the bill of fare in common.
The weather now is too warm to work only a little in the mornings.
Give my respects to your father and mother.

"Your Aunt" is Dovey Frances (CROCKETT) COCHRAN.

Eleanor MILLER? b. 12-20-1816 GA, d 8-18-1882 Franklin Co., TN, bur. GARNER-HAWKIN Cem., mar. 5-23-1833 (Ref. bible record) Squire B. HAWKINS.
Decendant of Squire B. HAWKINS of Franklin Co., TN seems sure his wife was Eleanor MILLER and there is no CROCKETT connection. I am still of the belief there is a connection, probably the daughter of the unidentified daughter in the 1800 NC census of Robert and Rachel CROCKETT.
Thomas A. BROWN, 10/8/1844, Giles Co., TN, d. 6/30/1930, Garland, TX - CSA mar. 2/27/1868 at home of her father by Rev. J. Simpson FRIERSON, Martha Emma (Mattie) WILSON, b. ca 1847 TN,
Martha Emma was daughter of Jane (CROCKETT) and James WILSON, gr-dau Archibald CROCKETT and Elizabeth PARKER. Archibald was s/o Robert CROCKETT and wife Rachel KERR. Elizabeth was d/o Isaac PARKER and Elizabeth KERR. The CROCKETT families came to Giles Co., TN ca 1806/1812 and are buried in Elkridge Cemetery. The 2 great-grandmothers were sisters, daughters of Joseph KARR, Sr. who d in Mecklenburg Co., NC. Isaac PARKER named Elizabeth CROCKETT his daughter in his will.
