Welcome to Rutherford County, in the Heart of Tennessee.  We're glad you stopped by and we hope you find something of interest.  Rutherford County is just miles down I-24 from Nashville, the capital of Tennessee, the home of country music, and the home of the Tennessee Titans and Nashville Predators.
Rutherford County is located in Middle Tennessee, one of the three "grand divisions" of Tennessee. The County seat is the beautiful old city of Murfreesboro, and is the home of Middle Tennessee State University. (Lets GROW BLUE!) MTSU has a student base of over 23,000 and is now the largest undergraduate university in the State of Tennessee.
The Albert Gore, Sr. Research Center is located at MTSU and is a goldmine for the genealogy researcher and anyone studying Rutherford and its people.
Don't forget the Archives! 435 Rice St, Murfreesboro.  John Lodl and his staff do a wonderful job and we thank them!
This site includes the publications that the Rutherford County Historical Society has put out and is sponsored by the Albert Gore, Sr. Research Center at Middle Tennessee State University.  Meetings are held at the Archives at 435 Rice St., Murfreesboro.
