Am interested in the LAXTON family of Scott Co. TN. My great grandfather was JESSE LAXTON who m. JANE (Jennie) THOMPSON in Campbell Co. TN in 1849. JESSE was killed near the close of the Civil War. JENNIE and children moved to Wayne Co. Ky. where she later married LEWIS DOLAN.

SHOOPMAN; RAINEY; HENRY; WYATT; I am searching the area called Smokey Junction. The SHOOPMAN family has a small cemetary on a hill in Smokey Junction. I am interested in MELTON SHOOPMAN and his family. Also, MOLLIE RAINEY, I need her parent's name, she was born around 1900 and married LEON SHOOPMAN, they had six children. I would like to find anyone working on these lines.

Huntsville is now in Scott Co. Prior to 1850 what Co was it in? I have DAVID STEPHENS and ELIZABETH SHARP STEPHENS in District 18 on 1850 census. Was this part of what is now Huntsville? Thanks for all information.

I am looking for info on my great-grandfather, RUFUS JONES, who lived in Winfield, TN., Scott Co. He was a fireman at one of the coal mines, around the early 1900's. His father's name was ISSAC JONES and his mother's name was SARAH JONES.

Searching for THOMAS JEFFERSON SIMMS (Sims) b:c1835, full blood Cherokee Indian. At 3 yrs his parents left NC, sent on "Trail of Tears", leaving THOMAS behind. Had a farm with a SIMMS Cemetery, probably in Morgan Co., TN. Lived in coal camps; Glenmary & Clarkrange, would like to know where these places located in Tennessee.

HUGHES, DAVID and ELIZABETH (SHARP) in Scott Cty on 1850 census. DAVID b. ca 1808 in VA and ELIZABETH b. ca 1807 in TN. Marriage most likely in/around area making new Scott Cty ca 1829-1832. Any SHARP family in area may be related to ELIZABETH. DAVID may also have family in area if they migrated together. Desire information on marriage, parents of DAVID and ELIZABETH and location living in Scott Cty to determine source county/ies before Scott formed. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
