OAKS born 1867 in Knox County, married MARTHA F. TAYLOR about 1896 in Tennessee, died before 1920 in Scott County, TN. MARTHA F. (possibly Frances) TAYLOR, born about 1876 in TN, daughter of JAMES W. TAYLOR. JAMES W. TAYLOR born about 1840 in Virginia, married to MARTHA E. (last name unkown), born about 1857 in TN. JAMES MELBOURNE (Milborn) OAKES, born about 1896, Olvier Springs, TN, married LUCY ELMORE about 1940-41 in Campbell County, TN, died March/April 1949-51 in Gulfport, Mississppi. Searching for Coal Miners! I'm president of Roach Creek Coal Miners Association, and we have a listing of over 300 miners who worked in either Roach Creek or Straight Fork Coal Mines.
