I am trying to find information on the GRANVILLE BAKER and MEGAN THOMPSON family of Oneida and Winfield, TN. GRANVILLE BAKER and MEGAN THOMPSON were both born around 1892. GRANVILLE died around 1977 and MEGAN died about 1984. GRANVILLE BAKER's parents are unknown but MEGAN's parents were WILLIAM MOSES THOMPSON and MARGARET EMILY TACKETT. I do not have the date that GRAN and MEG were married. They have 4 children, GLADYS, NORMAN, VERNON, and I think CHESTER. They attended, I believe, Winfield Baptist Church. I am looking for information on GRAN and MEG BAKER and their children, and, information on GRAN and MEG's parents.

I have a very old picture, that was given to me by my grandfather (from Winfield, Scott Co) WILLIAM MARSE BESHIRES's sister. This picture is of my great grand mother & father, LUCINDA DANIEL & CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS "Lum" BESHIRES, sometimes spelled BESHIERS, BOSHERS, or BRASHERS. In this picture, my grandmother is wearing a Native Amer. dress and her hair is in 2 braids. She also has a bead necklace on. I am at a lose as to which nation she belongs. Her mother was NANCY "Nann" HANKINS and father JAMES WILLIAM DANIEL. He was from Madison Co. I think that she got her Native Amer. heritage, through her mother, as tradition dictates. I also have a picture of Lucinda's sister, ALICE HENSON, in a dress that appears to be of Native Amer. in nature. Is there anyone who can help me with this, by looking at the style of these dresses? I can send pictures via e-mail. LUM and LUCINDA were married in Hardeman Co. on 4-11-1891 d! ! . Chester Co. LUM's parents lived in Hardin Co., at Shiloh Park, in the peach orchard cabin,1862. Please help with any history of these surnames.

I am researching the ADKINS, LOWE, and CARROLL name in Scott, Anderson, and Campbell Counties. Family tradition says that all 3 of these names has links to the Cherokee nation. My GGgrandmother, LOUISA LOW was the daughter of MICHAEL and CHRISTINE CARROLL LOWE. CHRISTINE was supposed to be full blood Cherokee, but we don't know who her parents were. MICHAEL LOW was also supposed to be "friendly" with a Cherokee wife of a Cherokee brave who had been kicked out of his family. They were living on the banks of Smokey Creek in Scott County. There is a possibility that, after killing the husband, MICHAEL fathered some children with this woman. We don't know fore sure. Does anyone have info on the CARROLL surname in Scott County? Also...does anyone know anything about the ADKINS name in Scott County in relation to the Cherokee? Thanks for your Help!!

Need any information on LEVI HAWKINS. Suppose to be full-blooded American Indian. He escaped Federal troops from taking him to Oklahoma (Trail of Tears) 1838. His son, COLUMBUS HAWKINS ( born 1847), was raised near Roasting Ear Springs on Massengale Mountain (located either in Scott Co. or Anderson Co.in East Tenn).
