My grandfather is OSCAR THOMAS PHIPPS.  His parents were ANDY PHIPPS and ANNIE STRINGFIELD.   ANNIE STRINGFIELD parents were WILLIE STRINGFIELD and LOUCRESA (I don't know what her last name was).  But I don't know ANDY PHIPPS parents were. JOHNSON, SMITH

I have been led to believe that HENRY E. JOHNSON and ALPHA SMITH were married in Winfield, Scott Co. TN about 1902-1905 . They lived in Wayne Co. MCDONOUGH, CHANGED TO DONAHUE, WALLEN

LEWIS

Looking for any info on the LEWIS family who lived in Scott County in the 1800's. WILLIAM LEWIS and his first wife and three children are in the 1850 Census. MASSINGALE, MASSENGALE

Seeking information on children of MATTHEW and POLLY MASSINGALE, who moved from VA to NC and then settled on the banks of Clinch River between Andersonville, and Coalfield in Anderson Co...which was later divided into parts of other counties. Some children lived in the section that became Scott Co. There were 12 sons, 4 daughters. Names we have are SOLOMON, JOHN, SAMUEL, JAMES, MATTHEW, EPHRAIM, GREEN, WILLIAM, NICHOLAS, DEMPSEY...and ELIZABETH and SARAH. Was BLAKE a son, and NANCY a daughter? No one can find out for sure who BLAKES's parents were. He was in SC, and moved to TN. EPHRAIM was in TN, and moved to SC. James, our line, settled in MCMinn Co. NICHOLAS, WILLIAM, JOHN and DEMPSEY remained in the area of Scott and Anderson Counties. Would appreciate any information on the "missing" children.

LEWALLEN, STANFORD

My name is RODNEY CURTIS LEWALLEN, and am a descendant of HENRY CLAYTON LEWALLEN and EMMALINE STANFORD whom raised a family in Glenmary Tennesee, Scott County. They had 7 sons, one was my father. STERNS, GEARHEART, THORNSBURY, McCURRY

I'm looking for SUSANNAH STERNS (STARNES) reputed to be an Indian. She married JOHN THORNSURY in 1793. They moved to Russel County, VA, later renamed Scott County, VA. They had eleven children. The other person is ARTA (ARTIE) GEARHEART. She married JOHN McCURRY before 1877. She is also reputed to be an American Indian. We cannot find any family records on either women previous to their marriages. GEARHEART may also be spelled GEARHART or GAYHEART.
