Of Notarized Affidavit of Henry Jack Hicks

Personally appeared before the undersigned authority W.C. Hicks and J.H. Hicks who made oath in due form of law, that they are both acquainted with H.J. Hicks, who was a member of Co B 4th Tenn Regiment, that they were both present when General Joseph E. Johnson surrendered near Greensboro, N.C. in the year 1865, and knows that the said H.J. Hicks was present in the service until the close of the war, that he was there present in the service at the time of the surrender, that he rendered his service in the army as [marked out] in his application until the Command was surrendered by Gen. Joseph E. Johnson. And further said and
