I am searching for information on a family named ALLEN which lived in Washington County, c1780-1790. In particular, the sons of Thomas ALLEN (of Rockingham County, NC) moved, it seems, as a group to Washington County, then later to Sullivan County, later to Smith County, and finally to Giles County. Thomas BRAGG married widow Elizabeth WHITSON JOB in Augusta County and came to what is now Sullivan County at least by 1780. He had at least the following children: Thomas whose wife I have not identified. David married Elizabeth. and possible Charles, Joseph and a daughter who married a TITTSWORTH. Only Thomas remained in Sullivan County. Elizabeth who married Henry NEATHERTON in Augusta County in 1758 may be his sister and Joseph BRAGG who had children in Madison Alabama, Mississippi Territory may be his brother. Any information.

George W. Akens, B: March 9, 1848, D: August 29, 1911, (buried in Big Stone Gap, Wise Co., VA). M: September 10, 1874 in Sullivan, Co., TN, to Rebecca Smith, B: November 20, 1852, D: December 12, 1933. These are my great grandparents who lived in the Indian Springs area of Sullivan County from at least 1874 through at least 1891. They had nine children, including my grandfather, George W. Akens, B: May 30, 1886, D: April 17, 1928, M: November 20, 1907 to Venus Hassie Sturgill, B: June 21, 1890, D: September 1978. I cannot locate the parents of either George W. Akens or Rebecca Smith. Looking for any info and other researchers of the John McQUEEN/Polly ALLENDALE family. John was born in Orange Co., VA in 1761. I believe his father's name was Thomas. He is reported to have lived in what became Sullivan Co., TN, during the late 1700's. John and Polly were married c. 1797. I don't have further info on her. They had several children and migrated to Kentucky, settling in Estill Co. where John died in 1855. There are several locations with the McQUEEN name near the Sullivan/Washington Co. line. Is there anyone doing research with this family? I believe there's a link with mine, but am not sure. Would love to exchange info with you.

Seek parents of Jacob WADDLE b. ca 1778 VA. He m. 1796 Augusta Co., VA to Jane Jackson. He was residing in Sullivan Co., TN in 1810 when he received an acre of land on Reedy Creek from a John WADDLE. Jacob was captured and slain at Ft. Niagra in 1813. His heirs were pensioned from 1815 to 1820 in Sullivan Co. His widow Jane appears in the 1830 Sullivan Co. census with three of their five children. Their children included (1) Mary Lavina WADDLE b. 1798 TN m. 1816 Sullivan Co. to Valentine LACY; (2) Permelia WADDLE b. 1805 Hawkins Co., TN m. Joseph SPIKES; (3) Henry M. WADDLE born 1800-10 TN m. circa 1832 Sarah BIGGERS; (4) Dr. Jacob WADDLE b. 1800-10 m. Sarah CREPPS; and (5) Harmon WADDLE. The four oldest children moved to Randolph Co., AR by the mid 1830s. What became of their mother and brother Harmon WADDLE?

I am searching for my GIRTMAN & TIPTON anscestors. A DANIEL GIRTMAN apparently served in the Civil War in Co. K, 6th Tenn & was supposedly from Sullivan Co. Does anyone have more information on him? Is he the same Daniel Girtman who lived in Johnson Co.? Which JOHN & JONATHAN TIPTON were there? My JONATHAN's father was STEPEHEN TIPTON. Jonathan was b. about 1802 & ended up spending most of his adult life in & around Grundy Co. How are REECE, THOMAS & ISAAC related. I also find a couple of BLEVINS there. MAUK, John - Seeking all information about this family group, which appears in the Census records from 1830 thru 1850. The 1850 record was inproperly transcribed as "MANK, John - farmer, age 73 born VA, living with Sarah, age 72, born NC." I believe this is the patriarch of all the MAUKS who lived in Hawkins Co. Daniel Davidson appears in tax records for Sumner County 1811. Who was his father?? Is this the same Daniel Davidson who married Mary Enochs? Daughter of Thomas Enochs and Nancy Bryan of Rowan Co., N.C? Daniel Davidson and Mary Enochs came to Jefferson Co., Ky. about 1810 and had three small children. Her parents Thomas and Nancy Enochs were living at Middletown, Ky. In 1817 Daniel Davidson and Mary Enochs Davidson came to Sullivan Co., Ind., settled and had 10 children. Need Marriage record for them and name of Daniels parents. Census records say he was born in Va.

JAMES JOHNSON, b. 1759 in Louisa Co, VA and a Rev War vet. Wife's name was probably Parmelia. Moved to S. C. after the R. War. He relocated to Sullivan County, TN living there for six years, apparently in the late 1700-early 1800 time frame prior to relocating to Wayne Co., KY. Nothing is known about his stay in TN. He may have left family there when he left. Any information on the family line would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to also know anything about Netherland Inn. Benjamin and Nancy are my great great grandparents and are supposed to be buried in the "Benjamincloud Cemetery" in or near Kingsport. Any information would be greatly appreciated...
