Orange Marmalade

5 oranges

1 lemon

Cut off ends and slide very thin.
To each pound of sliced fruit, add 3 pints of cold water and let stand for 24 hours. Boil briskly for 45 minutes. Let stand for 24 hours. WEIGH.
To each pound of fruit (plus juice), add 1 1/2 pounds of sugar. Add juice of 1 lemon and boil for 25 minutes, very hard.
All measurements and time for boiling must be absolutely accurate. Use pint bottle for measuring water.
