| In the mid-1800's, William Burrell Cummings was a prominent citizen of Van Buren County, Tennessee. He served as a Trustee of Burritt College at its establishment. He served Van Buren County as Sheriff, Justice of the Peace, County Judge, and Constable. In addition, he organized a company of the 35th Tennessee Confederate Infantry for the Confederate States of America. |
