For about twenty years he had owned and published the Home Journal and had built it up to one of the very best and most influential weekly papers of the state. He was a vigorous advocate of Law enforcement and every progressive measure for the moral and material advancement of his town and county. Genial, generous, warm hearted, his friends were limited only by the circle of his acquaintance, and his death leaves a vacancy in his community that will be hard to fill.Southern Standard, McMinnville, TN, Sat 28 February 1920.
