FAULKNER, Asa (1802 - 1886)
Death of Hon. Asa Faulkner
Hon. Asa Faulkner died at his home two and a half miles from this place about 8 o'clock Thursday evening, July 29th, aged a few days over 84 years. Mr. Faulkner had been confined to his room with paralysis for many months, and his death was no surprise, though by no means less sad. He needs no eulogium at our hands. He was known personally or by reputation to nearly every in habitant of Warren and adjoining counties, and was universally recognized as a public benefactor. He was the Nestor of all of Warren county's manufacturing interests, and spent all his long life in founding, nourishing and sustaining them. The name of no man who has ever lived in Warren County will be longer or more affectionately cherished than Mr. Faulkner's. His public and private life was pure and unblemished; he was ever a friend to the poor, and during his life did more to assist this class than any other man who ever lived in the county. Thrown upon his own resources at an early age, by his own untiring efforts he carved his way to the summit, overcoming every obstacle and difficulty in life's journey, and achieving a degree of success that few men ever attain.
His remains will be interred in the family burying ground at 5 o'clock this (Friday) afternoon, with a funeral service at the grave by Dr. G.T. Stainback.Southern Standard (McMinnville, TN) 31 July 1886
