Funeral services for Buford Neal Vanatta, 78, of Liberty, were held Dec. 24 at the Upper Helton Baptist Church in Alexandria. Thurman Seber officiated and burial followed in Salem Cemetery in Liberty. Vanatta died Dec. 22 at University Medical Center in Lebanon. He was a native of Liberty, the son of the late Clarence Vanatta and Tina Clayborn Vanatta. He was a World War II veteran and worked for the Veterans Administration in the Maintenance Department as a painter for 26 years. He was a member of the Upper Helton Baptist Church and was ordained a deacon there in 1962. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jessie Lee Robinson Vanatta of Liberty; three daughters: Joyce Foutch of Alexandria, Patsy Nokes of Liberty, and Kristie Cantrell of Smithville; one son: Jerry Paul Vanatta of Watertown; six grandchildren; two half brothers: Ed Hill and Silas Vince Hill both of Watertown; two half sisters: Gertie McGee of Lebanon and Viola Davenport of Knoxville. Serving as pallbearers were the Deacons of Upper Helton Baptist Church. Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria was in charge of arrangements.

Two Car Collision Fatally Injuries Monteagle Woman
A 67-year-old Monteagle woman died enroute to Medical Clinic Sunday morning as a result of injuries received in the collision of two automobiles on U.S. Highway 70-S, nine miles northeast of McMinnville about 9 o'clock, and an employee of a local automobile concern is now at liberty on bond after charges of involuntary man- slaughter were placed against him following the fatal accident. Mrs. W.C. Vance, Sr., former resident of Nashville, was fatally injured when the automobile driven by her husband and one driven by a man listed as Woodrow Davis, 32, of Campaign, Collided head-on near Dillon's Store on Sparta road Sunday morning. Mrs. Vance suffered massive head injuries and other injuries about the face and body in the accident while her husband suffered several broken ribs and other possible injuries. Mr. Davis received cuts and bruises, according to reports by State Highway patrolman Ty Cobb, who investigated the accident and held the man on the involuntary manslaughter charge. Mrs. Vance and here husband were rushed to Medical Clinic by their home. Mrs. Vance was a member of the Methodist church. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, W.C. Vamce, Jr., Louisville, Ky.; three daughters, Mrs. John M. Clunan, Nashville, Mrs. Ray Lemoal, New York City, and Mrs. Naoma Kellher, Brooklyn, N.Y; three sisters, Mrs. Daisy McFarland,
Monteagle, Mrs. Grace Carter, Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, Lee Tucker, Monteagle, and Grover Tucker, Tracy City. Also three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Prayer services for Mrs. Vance were held at the Chapel of High Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock with Rev. Allen Hardison, Monteagle, officiating. Vaughan, Thurman L. (????-1938)
RED HILL COMMUNITY - Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Vaughan and daughter Miss Emma Lou Vaughan returned home Tuesday from Huntsville, Ala., where they attended the funeral of their son, Thurman. Mr. Vaughan was accidentally shot at his home in Huntsville, March 12. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, two sons and one daughter, his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Franklin P. Vaughan and one sister Miss Emma Lou Vaughan of Guntersville, Ala., and many other relatives and friends. The bereaved have our sympathy.

Rites Conducted Tuesday For Mrs. Ruth Vaughn
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Belle Vaughn, wife of George David Vaughn, who died Sunday evening at 10:50 o'clock at the residence on Manchester road, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2o'clock at the Church of God. The minister, Rev. Calvin C. Wigley, officiated and burial was in Liberty cemetery. Mrs. Vaughn, a native of Claiborne county, Tenn. , was born May 30, 1920. Her parents were Joe and Ivy Earls and she was Married May 5, 1937 to Mr. Vaughn. The family moved to five years ago. In addition to her husband and father, Mrs. Vaughn is survived by three sons, Donnie Lee, Edward Eugene and Carl David Vaughn; four daughters, Mary Lou, Minnie Ellen, Patricea Ann and Helen Marie Vaughn, all of McMinnville; three brother, James Earls, Nes Tazewell, Albert Earls, Knoxville, and Joe Earls, Jr., Tasewell. Jasper C. Vickers, 23-year-old Jacksonville, Fla., contractor, died Saturday morning at 6:30 o'clock as a result of injuries received when a car collided with his truck at the city limits of Jacksonville eight hours earlier. Mr. Vickers, former resident of McMinnville, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Vickers, of Murfreesboro, former residents of this county. The fatal accident occurred late Friday evening on Phillips highway at the Jacksonville city limits. According to the Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville daily newspaper, Mr. Vickers was driving a truck south on the highway and attempted to make a left turn when a car operated by a man listed as Richard Paul Chitwood, 25 of Jacksonville, also traveling south, crashed into the truck. Florida state police, who investigated the accident, said Mr. Vickers was thrown from his truck by the impact. The fatally injured man's wife Mrs. Gladys Nelson Vickers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Nelson of McMinnville, and the Vicker's baby daughter were also in the truck at the time of the accident but were not seriously injured. According to the Florida newspaper, Chitwood, driver of the car, was placed under arrest on the charge of manslaughter. He was only slightly injured in the crash. Hugh D. Paris and Leslie Stanga of High Funeral Home went to Jacksonville Saturday morning and returned Mr. Vicker's body here Sunday evening. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Central Church of Christ. Allen Phy, the minister, Rev. H. Curtis Erwin, pastor of Magness Memorial Baptist Church, and John W. High officiated and burial was in Mt View cemetery. A native of Jacksonville, Ind., Mr. Vickers was born January 16, 1929. He was a son of James C. Vickers and Edith Grissom Vickers and he was married
to Miss Nelson in 1946. The Vickers family resided at Highland in the 14th district for several years and prior to their leaving McMinnville made their home on Sparta road. Mr. Vickers was a member of the Church of Christ and the Masonic Lodge. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by one daughter, Patricia E. Vickers, Jacksonville; two

Vickers, Linnie Lee (circa 1901-1981)Mrs. Linnie Lee Vickers, 80-year-old resident of Route 3 Morrison, succumbed to a one day illness in Warren County General Hospital at 8 p.m. Sunday. a native of Grundy County and member of the Church of Christ, on Christmas day 1920 she was wed to James Elmer Vickers. She was a daughter of the late Lawson H. and Ann Lee Stotts Fults. In addition to her husband she is survived by four sons and four daughters, James Marshall Vickers of McMinnville; Jackson B. Vickers of the Merry Oaks community, Jessie Daniel Vickers of Route 1 Morrison, Mrs. Pauline Barnes of Cookeville, Mrs. Earline Holt of Hendersonville, Mrs. Josephine Herrin and Mrs. Irene Lynn of Morrison, 19 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren. A son Franklin D. Vickers preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1976. Oscar Groves and John W. High conducted funeral services in High's Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Entombment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery. High's Inc., was in charge of arrangements.

VICKERS, Ruth Muncey (1917-1986)Mrs. Ruth M. Vickers, 69
Mrs. Ruth M. Vickers, 69 year old resident of Route 6, died unexpectedly in Warren County Regional Hospital emergency room at 5:30 a.m. Monday. A member of the Church of Christ and native of this county, she was first married to Jenry Avery Delaney (Dulaney) who preceded her in death Feb. 21, 1955, and later to Joe E. Vickers. She was a daughter of the late George W. and Maggie Pepper Muncey. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and three daughters, former sheriff Billy Thomas Delaney, Sonny Delaney, Mrs. James (Sarah) Milstead, Mrs. T.O. (Polly) Bratcher, and Mrs. Franklin (Ellen) Pack, all of McMinnville. A daughter, Linda Muller, preceded her in death. She is also survived by four brothers and three sisters, Lester Doak Muncey, George W. Muncey, Jr., Radion Muncey, all of McMinnville, and Marshall Muncey of Nashville, Mrs. Clara Whitman, and Mrs. Margie Wiseman of McMinnville, and Mrs. Carrie Davis of Ferndale, Mich., 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a step-grandchild. VIDA, Charlotte (circa 1935-1999)Services for Mrs. Charlotte Vida, 64, of Smyrna, who died Friday, Jan. 8, at her home, are scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna, with Gene Lovelace officiating. Mrs. Vida was a native of Longacre, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late John and Grace Backus Jackson. She is survived by her husband, Fred Vida; a son, David Warden of Chester, Va.; two brothers, B.C. Jackson of Smithers, W. Va., and Jerry Jackson of Friendly, W. Va.; two sisters, Joann Vest of Lakeville, W. Va., and Barbara Jarrett of Kimberly, W. Va.; and one grandchild. Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna, is in charge of arrangements.
