CROUCH (GEORGE) CEMETERY
(also know as GALLOWAY CEMETERY)

From the Kingsport Hwy (TN 36)., turn east on Carroll Creek Rd., turn right into El Rancho Subdivision, and left on Glaze. The cemetery is located on the left. There are many graves old and not marked. Other marked only with fieldstones. The cemetery was recently cleaned up by the Boones Creek Ruritan Club.

p. 130: George Crouch in his will, proven may 1866 directed 1/2 acre of his farm be set aside for use as a family burial ground. The Crouch Family graveyard is located in the 11th District of Washington Co.

p. 129: George Washington Allison was a Confederate soldier and was killed in the line of duty in North Carolina. When his mother, Julia Crouch Allison received official notice of her son's death, she immediately hitched the team to the hack and started for North Carolina to claim the body. The body was returned to the home on Boones Creek and interred in the old Crouch Graveyard alongside his sister Ellen Allison.

p. 131: ...After the Allison's acquired the old mill, the name was changed and it was operated for a number of years as the "Allison Merchants Flowering Mill." Finley Allison died in the year 1858, and his 1/2 interest passed to his heirs. N.L. Galloway, a son-in-law, eventually purchased the heirs interest and became sole owner of 1/2 the mill property. January 17, 186_, Robert Allison, for love and affection, conveyed his 1/2 interest in the property to his son, Joseph, and April 18, 1862, Joseph sells his 1/2 interest to Thomas Galloway, a brother of N.L. Galloway. The mill was operated under the management of these two brothers for a number of years and it was known and referred to as the "Galloway Mill."

p. 169: John Fulmer b. 1795, d. 1886 m. Elizabeth White b. 10-12-1787, d. 9-10-1882. (A soldier of the War of 1812.)

John Fulmer owned a large tract of land in Washington County near the mouth of Boones Creek and joining the well-know Klepper farm. After Elizabeth White Fulmer died, he married for his second wife Rebecca Hellum. No issue by this marriage. John and Rebecca are buried in the Crouch graveyard located in the Boones Creek Community. Elizabeth is buried in the New Bethel Cemetery.

p.344 Jim Clark Glaze (1849-1921) was the first born son of William B. and Elizabeth Clark Glaze. He married 1886, Mary Moore. Their son, John West Glaze (1890-1979), married Edythe Albert Galloway (1891-1953, the daughter of John Albert Galloway (1851-1891) who married January 8, 1880, Harriet Rhea Hunter (1856-1958). They were married at the home of Harriet's parents, Perry Hunter and Elizabeth Crouch Hunter (1817-1873) who were married January 11, 1838. After the Civil War, Perry Hunter's father, Joseph Hunter, came to live with Perry and Elizabeth. Elizabeth Crouch was the daughter of Geroge Crouch (1784) and Susan Gresham Crouch (1786)

p.336 ... Robert Lee Galloway married 1907 Vertie Maude DeVault, daughter of Frederick DeVault and Laura Martin. ... Robert Lee Galloway was the son of Nathan Lemon Gallow and Penelope (Eppie) Allison, daughter of Finley Allison and Julia Crouch. ...Nathan was the son of James Galloway and Saraphine "Sarah" Frost Barnes. ... On 27 August 1856, Finley Allison brought over 100 acres from his father-in-law (George Crouch) and his brother-in-law (Thomas Jefferson Galloway).
