GILLENTINE

I am searching for any records that may exist for the family of Nicholas Gillentine who lived in White County in the early 1800s. Big Fork Church (with records going back to 1808) and Big Fork Cemetery (236 graves -most unidentified) appear to have been established on Nicholas Gillentine's land. He may have had a son by the name of Terry Gillentine.

TAYLOR, MCBRIDE

I am looking for the ancestors of my Grandmother Della Taylor McBride, she was born 05/31/1887 in White County Tenn. She married Manuel McBride in 1905 in White County, he was born 10/17/1882 in the Cumberland Mountains. I think Della had a brother named George and Thurmond. I was also told her Father was once the Constable in McMinnville or Sparta and that her Mother was part Indian, I don't know their given names. I will share any information I have.

PARKS, MEYERS

I am looking for information about John Parks (b.1826 in Ohio-d. l916 in White, County, Tn.). In the l850 census he is in Bledsoe County, but from then on he is in White county with his wife Mary Meyers (Moyers, Myers) His children were Sarrah, James, Thomas, Jane, Annie, Tesessa, William and Susan. He was a farmer in District 2. I am looking for any personal information mentioned about him or the names of his parents. At least one of his sons, Thomas, stayed in White County as a farmer with his wife Lucy. Also looking for information about his wife Mary Meyers. Her sister, Sarah, also lived in white county with her husband, Apollas Dyer. Again, I am looking for Mary's fathers first name or her mothers maiden name. In Mary's case I would also be interested in whether the Meyers family lived in White County. GAMBLE, GILLENTINE

Seeking information on the parents of Robert GAMBLE. Robert was born 6 Mar 1780 in VA (maybe old Halifax County or Amelia County). He may have married his first wife in Amelia County (name unknown) circa 1800. Robert had two brothers, Andrew and John. The brothers were born between 1775 and 1795.
By 1808, Robert and Andrew had removed to White County, TN. In 1811, Robert was a founding elder of the Old Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church in White County, TN. By 1812, their brother John Gamble had joined them in White County. After the 1820 Census, John had migrated elsewhere or had died. Robert stayed as well as Andrew and his son. From 1864-1868, Andrew's son Andrew J GAMBLE, served as sheriff of White County, TN. Robert lived near Sparta until finally moving to Van Buren County, TN where he died on 14 Oct 1862. He is buried at Forsythe Cemetery, on Raymond Guy's farm, off Creek Road.
Around 1823-1824, Robert GAMBLE married Margaret GILLENTINE (daughter of Nicholas GILLENTINE and Jane Elizabeth TeRRY)

Hi I am looking for James DABBS born 1810. I don't know where he was born or who his parents were but would like to know. James was said to marry a lady named Jane. They then had my ggrandfather James W. DABBS who married Margaret LEE from Dover Tennessee. James DABBS was said to be a Dr. in Dover, Tennessee. VICK, LANCASTER, FITE, SMITH

In Smith Co.Court Minute Book 1808, Littleberry VICK and his siblings (7 of them in the court record) chose John LANCASTER to be their guardian. Leonard FITE and Thomas SMITH entered the financial bond for this court appointed guardianship. Littleberry VICK was 9 yrs old. His father was still alive,but may have been away from home. His mother was deceased. Could he have had a step-mom that died herself at that time, requiring a guardian? Also Littleberry VICKs future wife, Rhoda A.(dob1798) is my "brickwall".Can not determine her maiden surname. Could they have been early life family friends? GRIFFITH, FITE, WILLIAMS, JI(E)KINS, BETHELL, BENNETT, CARNEY

I have copies of two land deeds dated(1827)(1836) re: parcels of land added to the farm tract of Jonathan GRIFFITH (Forks of the Pike, Dismal Creek, near Liberty, TN) and his son, Moses GRIFFITH.The other names mentioned in the deed re adjoining property are John FITE, Samson WILLIAMS, Moses FITE, Charles JINKINS, Tilman BETHELL, David FITE, J.M.BENNETT, Jessee CARNEY. Any descendants of these men mentioned please contact me. So, many neighbor/children married each other and lines were linked. Jonathan GRIFFITH first settled on the land at Forks of the PIKE (Smith/Dekalb Co) about 1804. Apparently came from NC--near the VA border line---Neighbor families probably travelled into Smith Co together.We may find some vital clue/link?--Judy

LEWIS, HOOD

I am searching for the burial site for James Harvey Lewis and wife, Esther Hood. James is the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Mitchell Lewis. Esther died in 1890 and James died in 1871. I assume it was in White co. Tn. There is a fenced cem. on G.B. Roger's farm that has some of their children buried there, as well as two unmarked graves nearby. I have heard it said that those two sites were slaves. But, are they? Appreciate any info on these questions.

TAYLOR, COLLIER

Seeking Father of Lafayette Francis TAYLOR; born May 1838 in White Co,Tennessee. His mothers name was Jane and he had a sister named Elizabeth that was listed as being born in 1842 (age 8 in 1850 and 18 in 1860 Census. Lafayette Francis TAYLOR married Clara Frances COLLIER on 31 Dec 1863 in White Co, TN while at home while wounded in Civil War.
