MITCHELL

I have recently reviewed some of my family records on Mitchells. Spencer Mitchell Sr. if my gggggrandfather b1775 and d.1849. He moved to White Co. in 1806 and was granted 160 acres in the Hickory Valley. I have a transcript of a deed recorded in 1811 where he deeded 1 acre to the Old Union Presb. Church and Meeting place. He was supposedly the 1st elder there. He and his wife Rachel Roberts are buried there. Does anyone have any information on the Old Union cemetery and church. I have recently been transfered to TN and live in Cleveland. I would like to visit Hickory Valley if someone can tell me where it is. Thanks, David Kunkle

PIERCE, MARTIN

Washington PIERCE (b. 1793 or 1794) is shown on the 1820 White Co. census with four young children, but no wife. I believe his wife was Melinda MARTIN, but have no evidence. Are there marriage records available for the 1810-1820 time frame for White Co., TN? Can I get a look-up without a specific date? Thanks.

WEAVER, WOMACK

Paulino Weaver was a noted mountain man, born abt 1797 in White Co, TN. The only record of his parents names, given in his marriage record 2 Sep 1832 in Taos, NM, are listed as Benito Guivar and Cecilia Guamaca, the closest the Spanish language can cope with the letter "W". Benjamin or Henry Weaver is pretty certain, but the best guess for his mother's name is Womack. She was supposed to be an Indian princess, probably Cherokee. (Ever notice how the only Indian girls who marry into the majority culture are always princesses, or at the very least, daughters of chieftans?) Pauline, possibly born Powell, was known as a half-breed. ANY help on this Womack would be greatly appreciated. Pauline Weaver is a Noted Historical Figure in Arizona, and my 3rd great grandfather. Sure would like to find his mother. Thank you.
