I found Cosby Bowman, my g-g-g-g-grandfather, in the tax lists for
White County, which are posted on the TNGenWeb site. I had never
known anything about him being in the military, and I wasn't sure how
he ended up in TN, since his family came from VA and later NC. Could
anybody shed some light on these lists? Would 1823 have been the
year he settled in White County? Is there any way to find out more
about his military record?
There is also a Wm. Price listed in the same company. I believe
Cosby's father-in-law was named Wm. Price, but I would like to find
out if it's the same one (if so he would be my 5-greats-grandfather).
Was land in White County deeded to people who had served in the
military?

Searching for any records regarding ggg grandmother, Mahala TUCKER,
daughter of Daniel TUCKER. Mahala was born approx. 1810, as she
married in 1828.
According to handwritten notes left by my g grandmother, Daniel
TUCKER, of Sparta Tennessee had a plantation in Dawse?? (illegible).
A Daniel WILSON came to Tennessee to buy cotton, and met Mahala
TUCKER at that plantation. Later(1828) they married, and my gg
grandmother, Elizabeth WILSON was born in Sparta Nov. 25, 1838.
The family lived at some point in Knoxville, then went to Missouri,
where Daniel WILSON Sr. and Mahala died young, leaving eight
children, including my gg grandmother Elizabeth, orphaned.
It is possible there is a Native American connection, as recent
genealogica DNA tests of my brother and I show such markers.

I am searching for the parents of Andrew Jackson Graham. The story
goes that his father died and when his mother remarried she and her
new husband were going to move. Andrew did not want to move so he
went to live with James Graham and his wife Mary Dobson. Andrew is
living with them in the 1850 White Co. TN. census. Andrew's father
may have been John Graham who was living in Jackson Co. TN in 1830.
Any information on Andrew would be appreciated. Also any information
on the Graham's in White Co. TN listed in the 1840 census would be
helpful also since I believed that all 14 of them are related. Andrew
Jackson Graham was born about 1828-34 in TN.
