Their mother, Elizabeth, brought her orphan children to WILSON Co., Tennessee in 1816. According to my family tradition there were seven brothers. We have identified five so far. John W. Moore & James B Moore of the county of Rutherford & state aforesaid, heirs at law and (legatees?) of Thomas Moore deceased, who resided & died in the county of Montgomery in the State of North Carolina, have made, constituted and appointed, and do by these presents make constitute & appoint Wesley Hancock of said county of Wilson & state of Tennessee our (sufficient?) and lawful attorney for us & in our names, to bargain, sell, grant, release and convey to such person or persons & for such sum or sums of money for cash or _____ ________ _____ it as to our said attorney, Wesley Hancock shall seem most for our advantage and profit, all that tract or parcel of land lying on the waters of Little river in Montgomery County in the State of North Carolina, being the same tract of land on which the said Thomas Moore deceased, resided at the time of his death & which by the last will & testament of the said Thomas deceased, was (devised?) to our Mother Elizabeth Moore during her life & at her death to us in fee simple, (the said Elizabeth having died 26th of January 1831) and upon such sale or sales (convenient?) & proper deeds with covenant or covenants of general warranty in due form of law, as our deed or deeds to make, seal, deliver & acknowledge and for us & in our names, to accept & receive all & every the sum or sums of money or notes for the payment of money which shall be coming to us on account of the said sale or sales and upon the receipt thereof suitable (acquittances?) in our name & stead to make seal & deliver; and also for us & in our names, to ask for, demand, sue for & recover any & all rents that may be due us from any person (or) persons who may have uses & occupied the land and premises aforesaid since the 26th of January 1831, the time of our said Mothers decease and on the receipt of payment of such rent, (acquittances?) therefore to give & deliver for us & in our names. And should any person or persons be in possession of any part of said land and premises, holding adversely to us in such case our said attorney is hereby authorized for us & in our names to sue every such person or persons so holding adversely as aforesaid for the purpose of recovering the possession of said land & premises for us & for our benefit & on the recovery of possession thereof to place such tenant or tenants thereon as to our said attorney may seem fit & proper. And we hereby authorize our said attorney to make, appoint & substitute an attorney or attorneys under him in the premises of the same at his pleasure to revoke, hereby ratifying and confirming whatsoever our said attorney or his substitute or substitutes shall lawfully do by virtue hereof.
